Since 2012 the Danish Zoo har been owners of a piece of land in Bigai in the heart of the lush Ecuadorian rainforest. Their vision is to leave the area untouched by outer threats such as oil companies, establishment of new infra-structure, the lumber industry and det local agriculture.
Bigai is a hotspot for biodiversity and this particular place in the rainforest os known for its great richness in species due to it location between the moist and lush rainforest and the Andes mountains.
During the trip, participants will be able to explore the numerous species of bird and other animals. They will also be guided through the rainforest on a big hiking trip.
The two cooperations have companied in a common CSR policy focusing on the supporting local projects and sustainability in local communities. Therefore they launched a trip back in 2018, that combines leisure and vacation with a big focus on preserving nature and threatened animal species.
will donate a large part of the turnover from the trip to keep preserving the rainforest in Bigai.
The trip has a duration of 14 days and will see the visitors experience loads of natures treasure, but also some cultural highlights. The trip includes 2 meals a day, flight tickets and accommodation, as well as transportation within Ecuador and Galapagos.
Highlights on the trip are Cotopaxi-vulcano, thermal baths, capital of Quito and charming lodges, located right in the heart of the rainforest.
Randers Regnskov is a well-respected Zoo in the eastern part of Jutland in Denmark. They open the doors to more than 1 million people each year (total population of Denmark is 5.6 million). The collaboration started during a networking event for Danish zoologists.That is where partner and tour guide for Panorama Travel, Rasmus Nielsen and biologist for Randers Regnskov, Asser Ollgaard met and agreed upon the idea.
